Cultural responsiveness is essential to ensuring academic achievement and socio-emotional well-being for all. This virtual workshop will build upon the National Afterschool Association’s core knowledge and competencies to actively promote respect for cultural diversity and create an inclusive, welcoming environment that embraces diversity (NAA, 2021). Participants will reflect on their understanding of the role of culture in shaping their identity and consider how this impacts youth and their families. We will create shared language and vision for embracing all of the skills, talents, and expertise of youth. This workshop will provide room for self-reflection and discussion within the chat box and breakout sessions.
